| E-Crap's TOP
3 MOVIES of 2008
|

1.
Man On Wire A
documentary takes home the E-Crap Best Movie prize for the
first time. This is an amazing film. The story of Philippe
Petit's walk across the Twin Towers in 1974 on a tightrope,
which took six years of planning. The realist in me wanted
to say how Petit risked lives below on the street, and those
attempting to rescue and arrest him. But the artist in me
realizes I have never been so overcome by emotion,
motivation, and hope as when I left the theater after seeing
this film. |

2.
Speed Racer I
was a huge fan of the animated series. So much so, I refused
to see this film in the theater, for fear of disappointment
after seeing the trailer, and reading reviews. Boy was I
wrong! |

3. Iron
man Robert
Downey Jr. is superb, and this might just be the best
"comic book" movie ever. Does "Ghost
World" count? |
E-Crap's TOP 3 CD'S
of 2008
 |
1.
Tina Vero - "Tina
Vero" So what if
it's only an EP and we are a bit biased since she signed
with IPR in '08? Tina Vero is simply one of if not THE best
songwriters currently making home in the NYC area. Two of the
songs on this CD won national songwriting awards, and she brought a
whole new sound to her edgy style by having the tracks
produced and backed by the members of Suzanne Vega's band.

2.
The Hold Steady - "Stay Positive" Another
artist from NYC, Brooklyn to be exact. THS might be the best
live act around today, and they bring the same energy to
this CD. |
| |
3. Coldplay
- "Viva La Vida" I
am not a big Coldplay fan, and I think the title cut was
ripped off from Joe Satriani. Regardless, this is a near
perfect title cut, and a remarkable CD. |
