May - December Relationships

Can't seem to ignore the number of recent pairings where one partner is significantly older/younger, especially among the high profile entertainment duo's. most notably Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher, but there's also Cameron Diaz & Justin Timberlake, Jay Z & Beyonce and many more...... Why is it somewhat 'un-settling' to us? Who are we to have any judgments about it anyway? Why do we care? What is the big deal???

Well, it's not any life and death issue but everybody seems to be full of opinions about it... what's wrong with it... what's right with it....why it works.. why it doesn't work.... etc.... my only point of relativity would be my own personal experience. when I was 17 the average age anyone would guess I'd be is 27 - I just lived a very 'adult' life, really independent and responsible and always had the 'old soul' vibe going on. Most of my adult friends at the time never thought to ask my age for any reason because they felt we were 'peers' and assumed I was around the same age. Then perhaps there would be a reference to something in the seventies and I would say 'I was born in 197?' and everyone would gasp! I feel so bad for guys these days because you have 15 and 16 year old girls looking every bit of 24-25. But my question is what on earth can a 20 year old do for any 'real' man (over 30 perhaps) besides give him some pussy?

Let's be honest here, most people are still going through the later part of puberty as young adults. and most women in particular are so fucking full of insecurity - they don't even KNOW who they are... they don't even know the questions to ask to begin the journey of finding out who they are. there still busy trying to be one of the 'IN' crowd and succumbing to peer pressure. When I see older guys with chicks barely past puberty I just dismiss it as the guy wanting as easy piece of pussy or perhaps someone to control and 'mold' to his specifications. Those relationships are usually very one-sided and everything the woman does is dictated by what the guy wants or doesn't want. I don't call that a relationship, or partnership. In our society it takes a woman a little longer than 19-20 years to KNOW who she is, what she wants - what she don't want.. what she likes, what she don't like..... what she'll tolerate, wont tolerate.... or to feel that she knows her purpose. Only when someone has that self knowledge, acceptance and love for themselves can they bring their half to any 'partnership'. In that relationship we all want someone who understands how to be our companion... how to nurture us physically, emotionally, spiritually and love us unselfishly - c'mon, who really understood any of this kind of shit a couple years after we graduated with our high school diploma?

But there's always the point that women mature faster than men, right? (smile) for the 34 yr old man dating a 21 yr old girl - he might be right on her level, you never know. But in many cases age really is just a number, because I've know some 47 year old children.... lol For the older woman dating a younger man all we see is a woman with a "Boy Toy", or perhaps a 'gigolo'. If it's actually deeper than that, you'll almost always get to a point the young man wants kids and the woman may be older than she'd like to consider it. The other consideration is that these relationships are often confusing or just awkward for the other family members - like when a parent dates someone the same age as their kids... feels weird right?

I guess there are as many successes as failures for these unions - just like any other kind... last time I checked the divorce rate in this country was still a sad 80%... what are you going do right.... one this is for sure - it make DAMN good tabloid stories.......
